What is the Rundfunkbeitrag?
The Rundfunkbeitrag (broadcast license fee) funds public broadcasting in Germany (ARD, ZDF, Deutschlandradio). It's €18.36 per month per household, regardless of whether you own a TV or radio.
Important: You must register within 4 weeks of moving into a new apartment. Failure to register can result in back-payments and fines.
